WHAT IS JoSAA???

Through JoSAA(Joint Sear Allocation Authority) you can take admission for B.Tech/B.Arch to many institutes which includes IITs,NITs,IIITs,GFTIs(Government Funded Technical Institutes).
Those candidates who qualify JEE Mains or JEE Advanced must register for JoSAA to participate in the counselling and get their dream college.

Total Institutes In JoSAA Counselling Are-

  • 23 IIts (Indian Institute of Technology)
  • 31 NITs (National Institute of Technology)
  • 26 IIITs (Indian Institute of Information Technology)
  • 38 GFTIs (Government Funded Technical Institutes)

HOW TO APPLY FOR JoSAA???

Step-1>

Firstly, Candidates have to REGISTER for counselling at JoSAA Portal using their JEE Main or JEE Advanced roll number and password.

Step-2>

After registration, candidates need to fill in their preferred choices of institutes and courses in order of preference which is know as CHOICE FILLING. It's important to carefully research and prioritize choices based on personal preferences, rank, and availability of seats.

Step-3>

Once the choices are filled, candidates must LOCK THEIR CHOICES within the specified time frame. After locking, no changes can be made to the choices.

Step-4>

Based on the candidate's JEE rank, choices filled, category, and availability of seats, the JoSAA conducts multiple rounds of seat allocation. SEAT ALLOCATION results are published on the JoSAA Portal.

Step-5>

Candidates who are allocated seats need to INDICATE THEIR ACCEPTANCE by choosing one of the following options:

Freeze:

Accept the allocated seat and choose not to participate in further rounds.

Float:

Accept the allocated seat but also opt to be considered for other institutes of higher preference in subsequent rounds.

Slide:

Accept the allocated seat but choose a different course in the same institute during subsequent rounds.

Withdraw:

Choose to withdraw from the seat allocation process altogether.

Step-6>

After seat acceptance, candidates need to report to the designated reporting centers for DOCUMENT VERIFICATION AN CONFIRMATION OF ADMISSION. Documents usually include:

VACANT SEATS AFTER JoSAA COUNSELLING.


The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) conducts 6 rounds of seat allocation to facilitate admissions to various Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs).



Vacant seats after the completion of JoSAA counseling may be filled through other channels such as:


  • ⭐ CSAB Special Rounds: The Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) may conduct special rounds to fill vacant seats specifically in NITs, IIITs, and other participating institutes.

  • ⭐ State Counseling: Vacant seats in state engineering colleges may be filled through state-level counseling conducted by respective state authorities.

  • ⭐Institute Level Counseling: Some institutes may conduct their own counseling process to fill remaining vacancies after all other rounds of counseling are completed.

IMPORTANT DATES FOR JoSAA 2024.

Event Date

The official notification regarding the registration process will be released tentatively in June 2024. JoSAA registration process will tentatively start on June 10, 2024 and will end in the last week of June 2024. The complete schedule of JoSAA counselling will be announced on the official website at josaa.nic.in.

1.) For NITs,IIITs and GFTIs

  • Passport-sized photographs
  • JoSAA provisional seat allotment letter for the respective year
  • Seat acceptance fee proof (SBI net banking or e-challan)
  • JEE (Main) scorecard of the latest year
  • JEE (Main) admit card of the latest year
  • Candidate undertaking
  • Proof of date of birth (10th standard mark sheet)
  • Class 12th (or equivalent)pass certificate and mark sheet
  • A valid photo ID card
  • Medical certificate
  • PwD certificate (if applicable)
